Super Lightweight Mitchell Buckland made his return on a packed card at the Ice Arena in Cardiff this past Saturday, seven months since winning the Celtic title against Ally Black in October. In his way of a successful return stood the durable Frenchman Mohammad Larabi.
Buckland a two weight Celtic champion presented an assured performance from his six round duel with Larabi, fighting out of a southpaw stance the 22 Year old was able to control the contest from the centre of the ring, using his accurate jab to gain distance before his venomous hooks found their target, Larabi showed the effects of such as he marked up around his face as early as the third from the punishment that was being administered.
Larabi did however prove a stubborn if not outclassed opponent as he stayed upright through the course of the contest, although his record of not being stopped was tested fully in the sixth from a hard left hook which noticeably dipped the legs of the Frenchman.
The judges in attendance were gifted with an easy nights work, rendering a shut-out of scores of 60-54 in favour of the Cardiffian combatant.
The win now takes the unbeaten record of the Bocsio sponsored Mitch Buckland to 11-0 with sights firmly set on a British title challenge later in the year, potentially adding his name to the current crop of winners that reside in Wales, following in the footsteps of his older brother Gary.
